Presentation

An icon of Provence

Everyone recognizes its distinctive aroma, whether it is still in the ground or dried in a jar for our kitchen or barbecue!

Here in Provence, we are literally mad about cooking with herbs! And you will no doubt be familiar with our “Herbes de Provence”… Thyme blooms all summer long, se you will definitely be able to admire it during your camping holiday.

Here in the South of France, we also refer to it as farigoule.

Yes, we know we’re very lucky! You will easily find thyme growing wild during your strolls in Nos Coins de Paradis® (Our Corners of Paradise), but we have a few plants growing at the campsite too!

Countless properties

At the time of the Crusades, thyme was said to bring good luck to the knights: before their departure, their loved ones offered them a scarf embroidered with bees and a branch of thyme. Thyme is a symbol of courage.

Bees feast on their flowers and thyme honey has quite a strong flavour. It is harvested in late May and September.

Thyme is widely used in cooking for its aromatic qualities, as well as in herbal teas and even candies for its medicinal properties. Consumed regularly, it is a great source of antioxidants.

Where to find it at the campsite
You’ll find three thyme plants under the olive tree at the entrance to our four-star campsite Les Jardins de La Pascalinette ® (nr. 4 on the botanical footpath plan).
