Strelitzia augusta Alba
Presentation
The majesty of the White Bird of Paradise
The Strelitzia augusta (Alba), commonly called the White Bird of Paradise, is an iconic flower that enchants our holidaymakers and nature camping lovers with its exotic beauty and majestic allure. Native to South Africa, this plant, which is part of the Strelitziaceae family, is a close relative of the famous Strelitzia reginae, or “Bird of Paradise”. You’ll be able to admire plenty of them among the exceptional vegetation forming the natural backdrop to our four-star campsite Les Jardins de La Pascalinette ® in the Var, French Riviera-Côte d’Azur.
The elegant and impressive white flower of the Strelitzia augusta (Alba), resembling the outstretched wing of a majestic bird, make it a unique phenomenon among its colourful counterparts. The flower comprises three main petals and three sepals emerging from a boat-shaped bract, creating a striking silhouette evoking the grace and splendour of tropical birds.
A bird that fears the cold…
Strelitzia augusta (Alba) requires special conditions to flourish to the full. It prefers warm and sunny climates and is therefore very much at home in Provence and the Var. Although it tolerates droughts once established, it thrives on regular watering during periods of active growth.
Strelitzia augusta (Alba) embodies all the beauty and elegance of tropical climes. With its spectacular white flower and majestic appearance, this exotic and eye-catching plant evokes the wonder of distant lands. Planted in landscaped gardens or used in flower arrangements, the White Bird of Paradise brings a touch of grace and exoticism to every occasion.
