Feijoa Sellowiana or Brazilian guava
Presentation
A delicious surprise at Les Jardins de La Pascalinette ®!
Native to South America, this shrub is not only beautiful, it also offers up deliciously fragrant fruit. Unfortunately, the fruit only appear in autumn, but our campers can still enjoy its spectacular blooms!
Endowed with evergreen silver leaves and splendid white and red flowers, the Feijoa Sellowiana produces green, egg-shaped fruit from October onwards, with white flesh and a unique taste, midway between strawberry, guava and pineapple!
Some people find them minty with a hint of marshmallow! Despite its very ornamental appearance, Feijoa Sellowiana is actually a genuine culinary treasure.
The fruit, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, can be eaten straight from the branch, or made into jams, jellies or even refreshing drinks. Their sweet and fragrant flavour makes them a real treat for the tastebuds, while their exotic appearance makes them an eye-catching addition to every garden.
This shrub loves heat, so is very at home in the gorgeous Var area, French Riviera-Côte d’Azur. If it’s too chilly, it refuses to bloom!
A versatile plant
Far more than just a simple ornamental plant, the Feijoa Sellowiana, or Brazilian guava, deserves pride of place in any garden seeking an exotic and gourmet touch.
Easy to grow and producing delicious fruit, it offers a wonderful surprise for our nature camping enthusiasts holidaying on the Côte d’Azur!
